Lily Pad Placemats

With the arrival of Debbie Shore's new Lily Pad range I knew the colours would look lovely in my mother-in-laws kitchen so I had a think of things I could make. I could have thought up something new and different but I also thought, why not recreate something I have already made. I published a placemat tutorial for Christmas so I have used that as the main pattern. For the blocks I have taken 4 12" blocks from Lori Holt's Vintage Block Along that I am taking part in. The cottage garden feel to the blocks suits the fabric perfectly and it was the Vintage Lily block that gave me the inspiration.

I have used around half a metre of 5 of the fabrics and around half for the background.

If you use a solid fabric or something from your stash for the back of the placemats you could get away with a fat quarter pack . In hindsight a white may not be the best colour for the background so these will have to be saved for best and definitely not a spag bol night.

The only other thing I have done differently is use Bosal Interlining Foam instead of wadding. It is fusible on both sides giving it a great structure and has meant I have decided not to quit over the top. An 18" x 58" bag was the perfect amount for 4 placemats with only a little left over.
