DIY Festival Butterfly Wings – Free Template

For the last few years I’ve been making bits and pieces to wear to festivals, and one of my favourite things I’ve made has to be these butterfly wings. They’re fun, a bit dramatic, and they light up when it gets dark which makes them perfect for evening sets.

I originally made them using some offcuts from a wedding dress, which worked really well because the fabric had a lovely bit of structure and shimmer.
The wings are attached to your arms so when you lift them up they spread out like butterfly wings. They’re great for dancing around at festivals and they always get lots of comments.
I’ve shared more about how I made them in my Festival Edition – What I Wore video, including some clips of them in action.
If you’d like to make your own, you can download the free butterfly wings template below.
